About

Now with some photographs to bring the memories back, stories to tell, and songs to sing around a bonfire - with some jet fuel mixed in.

Lefty is a storyteller, writer, and producer based near Houston, Texas. A retired Navy Tomcat pilot and cyber professional, Lefty writes songs that celebrate life, family, relationships, friendship, squadronmates, airplanes, and the stories that stay with us long after the facts get hazy.

Finally, a long-dormant stash of photographs is launching - to celebrate memories of the mighty F-14 Tomcat, Naval Aviation, and the people that made those memories possible.

Ready Room Lore

What is an LSO?

Landing Signal Officers—universally known as “Paddles”—are carrier-qualified Naval Aviators who watch aircraft on final approach and help bring them safely aboard the ship.

Paddles evaluates lineup, glideslope, angle of attack, power, and pilot corrections throughout the pass. After the aircraft lands—or does not—the LSO grades the approach and records what happened.

The callsign displayed on this Ready Room board rotates daily through Lefty’s real-world LSO roster.

Call the ball. Fly the meatball. Save the jet.
